In Love with Lisa

Some people are good at selecting and giving the right gift for the right person.

I don’t confess to having that gift. But I do have the right person for me, and she is the right gift.

Even though I can recognize the right gift, I’m not always good at picking the right gift.

But I have words. And with my words, I can tell you about Lisa, God’s gift to me.

Rather than choosing a greeting card that only she would read, I’ll share a short list to tell you some of the many reasons I’m in love with Lisa.

As we enter late spring, Mother’s Day and our wedding anniversary on June 8 are both in sight. And I can tell you with certainty that Lisa is God’s gift to our family.

Lisa is a loyal mother who listens to her family. Her children can count on her to be there for them with compassion, empathy, and a love that knows no bounds.

Though my lovely lady likes to talk, Lisa listens better than most. Her empathetic heart often hears more than the words being spoken. In turn, she may offer advice, but you can count on her to pray about what she discerns.

Lisa’s prayer life makes her a lifter. She would rather pray for you than speak a disheartening word into your life. Because Lisa lifts, we can count on her helpful support and steady encouragement to do what is right.

Have you ever heard her laugh? Lisa laughs, and we’re so glad. She laughs with her children, family, and friends. This makes her fun to be around. But in a holy and quiet moment at church, you might not want to grin at her.

Lastly, I can tell you that Lisa loves. Her children, family, and friends know they are loved by her. Even when she disagrees with us, she loves us so deeply that she will still pray for us. Her love for others is often seen as patience, prayer, a pot of savory soup, or a sheet pan of sweet treats.

After this list of “L” words, I’ll simply end like this:

“L” is for Lisa, and I’m in love with her.
