There’s a specific directive given to this man.

Jesus has done great things for him. Of course, He has done all things well.

But before his encounter with Christ, this man needed EVERYTHING Jesus could do for him.

He existed in the most deplorable state. No one could do anything with him. No one could deny the hopelessness and helplessness that plagued him. The power of Hell was in complete control of his life.

The best thing that ever happened to him was Jesus visiting his graveyard of sin. His life was so full of the devil that he was known as Legion. BUT these demons didn’t stand a chance once Jesus stepped into this man’s life. They knew their evil possession was about to receive a cease and desist order!

Now that you’ve read it let me ask you. Did you hear the directive Jesus gave this man?

Jesus told him, “Go home to your own people. And tell them what the Lord has done for you, and how kind he has been to you” (5:19, JBP)!

Why did Jesus say this?

After having been a recipient of the life-changing power of God, he wanted to travel with Jesus. He sought permission to come aboard and join the ministry tour. Perhaps he thought, “if Jesus is no longer welcome here, then neither am I! I’m leaving this deplorable place!”

But what was best for the Kingdom of God? Obedience.

Obedience to God’s revealed will is always better than your self-made ideas of sacrifice.

Jesus was asked to leave, and He began to depart. BUT He commissioned this new man with a specific life plan! He was to tell everyone in his family and region about the goodness of God, the compassion of Jesus Christ, and his life-changing experience. His life now had an eternal purpose.

Many people would doubt Jesus. Some would join the prideful side of self-righteousness. BUT NO ONE COULD DENY HIS TESTIMONY!

His life was controlled by the power of Hell. BUT NOW he was seated, clothed, and in his right mind! His post-exorcism faith in Christ is demonstrated by his willingness to get in his boat and subsequent obedience! His eternal destiny was cast with Christ! He was now seated with Christ in the heavenly realm, clothed in the righteousness of Christ, and in the right mind of Christ.

This man went under the influence of Christ, who was resident in his soul and president of his spirit. He evangelized his people as instructed. His story was told all over his ten-town region, and people were amazed!

We continually overcome our adversary by the word of our testimony. The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy! Have you shared yours lately?

Make no mistake! The story of your testimony is powerful and can change someone else’s life.

And so I want my family and children to know what the Lord has done for me. I want everyone who reads here to know about the Lord’s goodness and His wonderful works in my life.

I was once in the graveyard of sin. And no one could do anything to really help me. But Jesus came looking for me. And the rest is His story, to God be the glory.

As one songwriter said, “He healed my body, He touched my mind, He saved me, It was just in time.” Look what the Lord has done! “I’m gonna praise His name, Each day He’s just the same, Come on and praise Him, Look what the Lord has done!”

What’s even more fantastic is the continued grace of our Lord. What He’s done for me, He will do for you too. He wants to save your soul, sanctify your mind, and fill you with the power of His Spirit. You can also be seated with Him, clothed by His righteousness, and have His mind for your life.
