Today’s Behavior Matters

Each day is a precious gift.

What we do with this one matters to all of your tomorrows. Today’s behavior can ruin or refresh your tomorrows.

I sit back and quietly observe so much of supposed Christian behavior. It’s not that I don’t have something to say. Often, I do have some valuable commentary that I could add to the latest injustices.

But I would rather say too little today than have to spend tomorrow in repentance. What if I don’t have all the facts? What if I don’t understand all the perspectives? And what if the issues are more complicated than my narrow slice of understanding?

Christian, you do have a limited place in this world. But you are not supposed to be of this world. We should have some involvement in the political process. But we are not of this world. And yes, we should speak up for righteousness, and speak out against the evils of our day. But most of this speech should be done to God in prayer.

You and I cannot forget that this world’s politics do not have the power to fix our sin broken world. These problems require a solution much greater than better legislation and the pipe dream of politically leveling the playing field. This world needs our Savior, Healer, and Redeemer!

Daniel is one of the best examples of leadership for Christians in 21st century America. Regardless of who the king might have been or how ruthless his kingdom might have acted, Daniel was committed to living by his values as learned through the revelation of God’s Word. Such integrity brought the favor of God, and he was blessed in Babylon.

God’s plan for your life doesn’t change based on who occupies the oval office.

Let’s make that last sentence personal. Say this three times, out loud. God’s plan for my life doesn’t change based on who occupies the oval office.

You too can be blessed in Babylon. It’s a matter of biblical perspective. It’s also a matter of making up your mind that today’s behavior matters.

In the Scriptures, today is referenced twice as often as yesterday and tomorrow combined. Today is yesterday’s tomorrow as well as tomorrow’s yesterday. Since we don’t really possess yesterday or tomorrow, today is a very special gift, which we understand is a present.

You can stop seeking to change this world’s kingdoms through this world’s means. Use today to access the greatest Kingdom, which has the King of all Kings. King Jesus instructs us to “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).

Yes, today is the most important day of your life! Use it wisely. Seek your King and His Kingdom.

“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen” (1 Timothy 1:17).
