It’s More Important than What’s Happening in the White House

Can you believe how all the nonsense of this presidential election turned out?

Truly, I doubt that any human could have predicted the outcome, two years ago. One word seems to fit: unfathomable.

How many of you are just glad that the overwhelming majority of the foolishness is over?

There’s almost a collective sigh of relief by the constituency across the land. Sure, I know a few protests have taken place. But considering that there are about 325 million people which populate our nation, what are these among so many?

My personal sense of skepticism keeps me from being terribly excited over the results.

When my friends have asked, the best way to explain how I feel about the outcome of November is cautiously optimistic. That’s not nearly as melancholy as it sounds.

The truth is I learned a long time ago to not trust or depend too highly upon the rhetoric of secular politics. It would appear that any politician of any party will say almost anything to any extent in order to get elected. And so I tread lightly, pray daily, and carry most of what they say with a grain of salt.

The results are in and now our country is in that transitional time where one administration is slowly coming to an end and our new one is being rapidly formed in order to assume the great responsibilities that lay ahead for them. There is a changing of the guard (so to speak) when it comes to the party in charge. Some are in the habit of measuring presidential administrations by their first 100 days. They like to use that period of time to predict the remaining time of the term. I’m just not so sure about that. To me, it seems quite the antithesis of leadership to measure a leader’s effectiveness by what they do during their first three months. Have we forgotten how huge of a burden it is to be the CEO of a whole country?

The results are in and I must say that I have been disappointed in the lack of courage, civility, and Christ-like character, which I’ve witnessed from many of those who call themselves Christian. I trust that many have already taken the time to repent and repair the relationships for which they are responsible. Have we forgotten that the results of Judgment Day are much more important than the results of any election day?

The results are in and for me and my house, not much has changed. You see, what happens in my house is more important than what happens in the White House. The same is true of your house. We decided to serve the Lord many years ago and that commitment hasn’t changed. Our citizenship still remains intact. As citizens of the Kingdom of God, we still operate under One King and the principles of His Kingdom. God is still on His throne in Heaven and Christ is still on the throne of our hearts. Jesus Christ remains our Savior, Sanctifier, Spirit Baptizer, and Soon Coming Sovereign.

The results are in and we still have a job to do and a ministry to carry out. As a citizen of this country, I should continue to pray for President Obama and his family. I will also be praying for President-Elect Trump and his family. These men need the prayers of Christians much more than any of us realize. Will you join my family in praying for these families?

The results are in and I am curious about you. Are you okay? What has changed for you since November 8? What’s happening in your house?

Remember, what’s happening in your heart and in your house are so much more important than what’s happening in the White House or the house down the street. “For the Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God…” (Romans 14::17-18).

The peace of the Lord be with you all.

  1. Excellent in every way. Could not have said it better myself. Prayers daily for our country that somehow, some way there will be a turning back to God in a greater way than we have ever experienced. We are in the state like Nineveh was when God sent Jonah to preach repentance. I pray that the next time we hear from God it is not like the prophet Nahum wrote in Nahum 2:1…”He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face….” God has given us another chance. Let’s make the most of it and turn to Him with all our hearts…Thanks for your thoughts this morning. God bless you and your ministry.

  2. Love this!

“Have we forgotten that the results of Judgment Day are much more important than the results of any election day?” This!!

The results are in. And by looking at the news or social media I thought the Earth was supposed to stop spinning on November 9 – either way the results went – the world was over. BUT we woke up November 9, and the little people still wanted breakfast, they still wanted their bottoms wiped, shoes tied, and seatbelts buckled, and they still wanted me to count to ten and come find them 578907580347 times a day! So, nothing in that regard has changed. 🙂

While before the results were in, my prayers for one tragedy and the other tragedy were pretty general, now my prayers for our country and leadership are more specific.

    • Yes sir. The encouraging thing that I’ve been reminded of is that prayers have no expiration date on them. The “Throne of Grace” we petition exists outside of the boundaries of time as we know it. God stores our hearts desires in eternity for answers to be released at just the right moment within the history of our humanity.
