1 Surprising Tool to Get the HELP You Need

None of us is excluded from the fact that often in life, we just need some help from an outside source.

But what if the secret to your success is much simpler than you could ever imagine? There is one surprising tool that many people fail to use and therefore do without the help they need.

From the horizontal perspective of human to human, we often fail or fall short of our desired success because we are negligent in soliciting help. I have often viewed others struggling and thought that I could have kept them from failing. In some instances, if they would have humbled themselves and asked, I could have ensured their success.

Many songwriters have written about this horizontal need. From across the ocean in the mid-1960s we heard the exclamation, “HELP, I need somebody! Help, not just anybody. Help, you know I need someone.” If indeed “You’ve Got a Friend,” then all you have to do is call. And yet another set of lyrics convinced some that the only way they could get by is “With a Little Help from My Friends.”

In Scripture, we learn that a call for help can actually be a sign of Holy Spirit intervention. Acts 16 details how the Apostle Paul was led by a vision as a result of what is known as the “Macedonian Call,” which simply says, “come over and help us.” And let’s not forget that Jonathan was the answer to many of David’s help prayers.  In life, we often see the interwovenness of the horizontal and vertical in our need for help.

From the vertical perspective as Children of God to our Abba Father, we often fail needlessly. Our resources are Divine and limitless. Think about what His Word teaches. In James 4:2 we learn that we have not because we ask not. Again in James 1:17, we are taught that every good gift and every perfect come from our Father. He is our source!

Now consider Jesus our Lord, Leader, and Master Teacher. His Words in Matthew 7:7-11 teach us the A-S-K Principle.

AAsk / Receive

SSeek / Find

KKnock / Open

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Jesus used the word “ask” 5 times in this passage of 5 verses.

Our God is more than okay with us praying and asking for any and all – big, little, and in between. So, ASK Him for help! Don’t fail needlessly. Persist at the throne of grace. And look around in your life. Has God already placed a friend or some other acquaintance nearby to help meet your need? Let’s ask one another for HELP!

In most cases in life, the only reason we lack success is that we failed to ASK for help. It really is that simple. ASK, is the one surprising tool you need to use. Ask, seek, and knock and you’ll be on your way to godly success.

While in prayer, please join us in asking for a genuine revival of scriptural holiness in the American Church and agree with us for spiritual awakening in our nation.

Then, please ask the Holy Spirit to give this preacher boldness to believe in God for more than ever before!
